What to check before you book
The six things that genuinely differ between cruise lines once you are over 50.
Tips, drinks, wifi and flights are included on some lines and extra on others. Compare the total, not the headline.
Sailing from a port you can reach by car or train removes the airport from the trip entirely.
Step-free showers and wider doors sell out first — ask for the cabin category, not just "accessible".
Adults-only and small-ship lines are quieter. Family ships in school holidays are not.
Excursions are graded for walking and standing. Gentle grades exist on every line — ask for them.
Age limits and pre-existing conditions matter more at sea than anywhere else. Check before you pay the deposit.
